Supper and Song
Islands Weekly - Apr 08 2008
Fulfilling healthy meals are the special sauce added to the next Home on the Grange concert when the Chris Bramble Band plays a community dance at the Lopez Island Grange Hall on April 26 at 7:30 p.m.
“Teaming up with Jean Perry from Vortex Café & Juice Bar is a natural ingredient to add to the Home on the Grange Concert Series,” said Sue DuMond. “The Grange’s roots are in local agriculture and Vortex Café is a leading provider of delectably prepared, locally grown, organic produce.”
“The Grange shows are intimate and folksy,” adds DuMond, “and Vortex Café is an island eatery and gathering place right in line with the atmosphere of the Home on the Grange shows.”
DuMond and Perry call their collaboration “Supper and Song.” Supper will be served between 6 and 7 p.m. at the Grange Hall and will consist of two salad choices, a main course with sides, and dessert. The song part of the evening will start at 7:30 p.m. Be prepared to dance as The Chris Bramble Band is billed as “danceable, inspirational, psychedelic folk-rock” and attendees are encouraged to “bring your dancing smile.”
Cost for the “Supper and Song” is $20 and tickets are available at Vortex. “As this idea is just bearing fruit, we’d like to get an idea of how many we’ll be serving so advance ticket purchases for ‘Supper and Song’ are really appreciated,” said Perry.
DuMond and Perry are in the process of planning future “Supper and Song” shows, adding that “music and food are sustenance and bringing them together on the same plate adds to the flavor of an already nourishing and satisfying evening.”
As always, tickets for the music only portion of the evening are $10 and available at the door the night of the show. Attendees are encouraged to come to the combination evening or just the music portion. Kids ages 12 and under get in free for the concert.
